Chelsea have 20 million fans worldwide,
United have 20 million in China alone...

So much for Peter Kenyon's claim that Chelsea will soon be the biggest club in the world as news reaches United blog towers that Manchester United have an incredible 20 million fans in China alone and are easily the most popular club in what many describe as the world's most important economy.

Dr Simon Chadwick of Birbeck College, London, who has studied English football in Asia says that Chelsea are facing an uphill task if they want to become bigger than United and Real Madrid "The difficulty is there is so much much brand equity in history, and history is built up over decades Chelsea cannot create that, they are still a new club on the block in global terms."

In a survey of 400 Asian fans, 75% claimed to be Manchester United fans and only 13% supported Chelsea in the sample.

Peter Kenyon knows Manchester is red,
and so is China...
