Reports have suggested for some time that Alan Smith could be sold this summer, if it happens the Red's will surely replace the former Leeds striker. Only last week Smith was talking about a new deal at the club, but that was followed by reports saying that there is no new deal on the table. Today the player told The Sun: "If the manager tells me he wants me, I'm there for him. If he doesn't, it's time to move on.
"If you're no longer wanted, then you have to consider your options. I want to be out there from the start."
Personally I think a lot will depend on who United are looking at in terms of a replacement, if United are indeed going for Tevez or Huntelaar then they will need the cash, and plenty of it, but having spent heavily already this summer in the transfer market that seems unlikely.
