Question: Was anyone seriously surprised to hear that Claudio Ranieri had turned City down in favour of Juventus? I mean, who would take the City job when one of the top jobs in Europe came along? City fans can kid themselves all they like that if the much vaunted takeover had materialised then Ranieri would have took the job at Eastlands instead of opting for the Turin club. That in my opinion is pure fantasy, the reality is City have are in the process of selling arguably their best player in Barton, they have sold Distin, another of their better players.
While on the subject of fantasy, the talk is that the Blues want a top foreign coach. Why exactly is this I ask? Because it is highly unlikely, takeover or not, that whoever comes in will have little or no money to spend. It will take more than the former Thai Prime Minister to save City this season, a ball has yet to be kicked yet the Blues must already be among the favourites for the drop...
Let's hope so.
