United to make late bid for Torres?...

Here we go again. United are once again being linked to Fernando Torres with one report claiming that the Red Devils could be about to outbid rivals Liverpool by matching Athletico Madrid's asking price of £27m. According to the media the Merseyside Reds will reportedly only stretch to £24m for the player who is said to been keen to join our arch rivals in preference to the Champions.

Following on from this story, reports in Italy claim that Udinese have won the battle to sign Fabio Quagliarella, who they 'part own' along with Sampdoria - which in itself must go down as a little bid odd to say the least. How can two clubs each claim to own the same player? Only in Italy?

I for one remain extremely sceptical about the stories linking United to the Italian striker, the whole thing smacks of his agent talking up a better deal for his client.

So what now for United if indeed Torres is Anfield bound?

My money is on the Reds signing one of three players: Carlos Tevez, Eidur Gudjohnsen or Jan Klaas Huntelaar.

  1. I will be hoping to see Torres or Tevez landing at Old Trafford rather than Gudjonsen or Huntelaar.

Gudjonsen just don't make a good impression in my mind although he had some good games with Barca but when he is with Chelsea, he failed to play well in the EPL.

I don't think Torres is bound to Liverpool yet and glimmer hopes is still there.
