Fergie swoops to sign new striker....

Just a few days after Fergie hinted that the club's transfer business was done for the summer the United manager has confirmed they have agreed a deal for a new striker. Senegalese born Mame Biram Diouf is expected to sign subject to passing a medical next week, however he will be loaned out to his current club Molde until January. Fergie said "We've been looking at him for two years.

"We weren't intending on signing anyone else - we feel we have a full squad - but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids. We decided to act and he'll be the last person we sign."

  1. I have to say im not surprised we have signed this fella. Had the feeling fergie was going to get another fairly unknown player rather than pay over the odds for certain strikers in the market. Don't know much about the kid but his goalscoring records are pretty impressive. Is it me or is fergie becoming more and more like arsene wenger with his transfers??? Say what you want to about his recent record but i believe the guy is an absolute genius.

  2. We will only be able to fully judge the merits of this summer's signings at the end of the season... I wonder why he's going to be loaned out until January? It's not as if United are awash with goal-scorers, is it?

IF this new lad is half as good as Ole then we will be doing ok. Did you know that Ole scored more goals for United than Andy Cole???

Fergie has a very good record where signings are concerned, but if you compare it to Wenger's on purely cash terms, the Frenchman has a much better record. But I do agree that Fergie appears to be following Wenger's lead - why pay silly money if there's good up and coming players out there?

  3. 4 goals in a recent game, a hatrick in the first 10mins, all of which appear to be striker's goals. Finishing in the box. It's what we need.

I'm sad to see Manucho go without much of a chance, but he was a spectacular goalscorer as opposed to one who could finish in the box.
